This 1998 Mercedes-Benz SL500 roadster is finished in black over beige leather and powered by a 5.0-liter V8 paired with an automatic transmission. The car was first registered in Florida and kept in the Northeast from 2004 onward, with the current owner acquiring it in 2012. Service has since been performed at selling dealer’s shop in Danbury, Connecticut, and the car is being sold as medical issues prevent the owner from driving it. This R129 shows 47k miles and is offered on behalf of its current owner with a clean Carfax report, service records, owner’s books, and a clean Massachusetts title.
The body is finished in Black (04U), and the deck lid has been repainted according to the seller. The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage. Blemishes pictured in the gallery include chips on the forward surfaces and edges of the doors, scratches on the deck lid and bumpers, scuffing on the lower edge of the front air dam, and a ding on the rear edge of the trunk.
A matching hardtop is included in the sale, and the motorized black convertible roof is shown raised in the gallery. Slotted 16” wheels show curb marks and are mounted with Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 rubber from 2015. Maintenance records show brake work in 2016.
Beige (265A) leather covers power-adjustable seats with memory settings. All-weather mats protect the carpets, and a set of matching factory mats is included. The rear parcel shelf incorporates a subwoofer and storage compartment.
Interior equipment includes dual airbags, automatic climate control, and a factory Becker cassette stereo which is linked to a trunk-mounted CD changer. The hardtop headliner is noted to be sagging. The digital odometer shows 47k miles, approximately 15k of which have been driven since 2012 under current ownership.
The 5.0-liter M119 V8 features dual overhead cams and four valves per cylinder, and was rated at 315 horsepower with 345 lb-ft of torque when new. A 5-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels.
The seller describes seepage around the oil pan gasket as well as corrosion on suspension and exhaust components. Additional underbody images can be viewed in the gallery below.
The car has been serviced by the SST Auto since 2012, with records provided from current ownership. An oil change and inspection were performed in October 2018. An owner’s folio and manuals are pictured in the gallery below.
Offered at only $13,000 obo.
